Mahale Mountains NP

Mahale Mountains National Park is a remote and enchanting wilderness located on a forested peninsula along the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania. Established in 1985, this park is celebrated for its dense, lush habitats ranging from rainforests and bamboo groves to montane grasslands cradling the world’s largest known population of eastern chimpanzees, among other primates. Unique in its seclusion, Mahale offers only walking safaris, with access solely via boat or charter flight, immersing visitors into an untouched natural landscape where chimpanzees, leopards, and lions peacefully coexist
